10 AI Prompts You'll Actually Use Again and Again

Most people treat AI like a search box. Type a few words, get a mediocre answer, decide the tool is overrated. The difference between mediocre and useful is nearly always the prompt.

The trick is you don't have to write a good one every time. Write it once, save it, and fill in the blanks when the situation comes up.

Here are ten worth keeping. Each one exists because the lazy version of the same request gets a noticeably worse answer. Save them in your notes app and swap out the bits in brackets.

1. The CV rewrite

Here is my CV and here is a job listing I'm applying for. Rewrite my CV to emphasise the experience most relevant to this role. Use the same language the listing uses for skills where I genuinely have them. Do not invent anything, do not exaggerate, and flag anything you were tempted to stretch so I can decide. Keep it to [one/two] pages.

The "do not invent anything" line is doing the heavy lifting. Without it, AI will happily upgrade your job titles.

2. The difficult email

I need to reply to this email. My goal is [what you actually want to happen]. I'm feeling [annoyed/anxious/fed up], but the reply should be calm, professional and firm. Don't apologise for things that aren't my fault. Keep it short. Write two versions: one warmer, one more direct.

Telling it how you feel and how you want to come across as two separate things is what makes this work. It gets the frustration out of your system without putting it in the email.
