Which Tasks to Hand to AI, and Which to Keep

Not sure what to use AI for? Three questions that sort any task in seconds, the studies on where AI helps and where it quietly fails, and what to keep yourself.

The question isn't whether AI can do the task. It usually can, at least in a form that looks finished. The question is whether you'll be able to tell if it did it wrong, and what it costs you if you can't.

That's the whole decision, and most advice skips it. Lists of "50 things to do with ChatGPT" never mention that the same tool that edits your email brilliantly will invent a court case with equal fluency, or that a study of 1,298 people in the UK found that using an AI chatbot for medical decisions left them no better off than searching the web.

So this guide isn't a list of tasks. It's three questions that sort any task in about ten seconds, the evidence behind them, and the places where delegating goes wrong in ways you won't notice.
